Location Reece: Questions and Answers

Location Reece Questions and Answers

About my shoot

I am taking my own photos and I have asked a friend to model for the shoot

Are there any potential hazards that could pose a health and safety risk where the photo shoot will take place?
There are potential hazards where my photo shoots will take place; like:

·         Other people

·         Objects lying on the floor

·         Traffic

·         Roads

·         Road works

·         Ourselves

·         Equipment

·         Hair and makeup products

What will I do to ensure these risks are minimized?

I will check the area to ensure that there is nothing lying around that could be a hazard. The places I want to go to do my shoot will be checked to ensure it is safe for everyone and proper health and safety guidelines will be followed at all time to reduce the chances of people getting injured or equipment been damaged.

I will have to ensure that my model fully understand all given instructions so she can avoid injury to herself or anyone else.

The shoot will also have to take place out of the way of traffic, this will ensure no one will accidently fall over into traffic, no equipment gets in the way of traffic and that no traffic will ruin the shoot.

Will the time of the day or the weather affect the photos?
The time of day won’t affect my photos and neither will the weather; as I’m after a variety of photos and the weather or time of day could help with this and could lead to a better photo been chosen.

I am also going to including examples of photos that won't be used in the magazine, therefore the weather and lighting can help me achieve these photos.

Have I considered the background I want? How will I ensure I get the background I want?
I have considered the backgrounds I would be after, but I would like have a variety and not stick to one location.

So to ensure I get the backgrounds I want, I would go to different locations and decide what would look best as a background

Have I considered lighting?

I have done my research of lighting; like the issues of natural lighting in a photo shoot and how it can make the photos look darker or ruin the quality of them.  However I am after a variety of photos and the lighting is going to be the biggest factor into what the photos look like.

Do I need permission to take the photos in the venues I had in mind?

No,the venues are public places and I didn't need permission

Did I need to book time in a studio?

No I didn't, all my photos were taken outside by myself

Will other people be an issue for me? If so what will I do to not let it ruin my shoot?

Other people could be a potential problem but only if they try to deliberately (or not) get in the way of the photos. To reduce the potential problem most of the photos will be taken at a location where there aren’t many people out and about or if the location is a popular location we would go out at a time where there would be less people.

Am I reliant on lifts, props, friends or models?

I am not reliant on lifts as I have a travel pass allowing me to travel where I need to be; I am however reliant on a friend to be my model.

How have I planned for all these people to come together at the appointed time?

I prearranged everything with the model involved and explained what the shoot is for and answered any questions she needed answered. We then discussed upon dates and times an agreed on a date and time and where to meet for the shoot.

 Did I have a plan B?

Yes I did, if for whatever reason the shoot couldn't take place I had a back up shoot prepared on a different date with the same model. If she was ill or if the weather was terrible then we would go out and shoot another day. The weather would have bothered my model more than me but I had agreed if it was too bad that we would shoot another day.

Have I thought of every eventuality?

I believe I have covered every possible eventuality. I made myself a check list to follow and I made a calendar of the day’s events and I wrote down anything else I thought relevant. I also had plans for the cases of emergencies or if something goes wrong.

I also had a backup shoot prepared in case the first shoot was unsuccessful.
